Child Abuse Case: Walliul Islam in 5-day judicial custody

GUWAHATI: Dr. Walliul Islam was produced in Court on Wednesday by Assam Police, and the Court granted a 5-day remand, following which he will have to be presented again. Meanwhile, his wife and prime accused, Sangeeta Dutta, was taken for medical examination at the forensic sciences department of the Gauhati Medical College Hospital, where her DNA samples were taken. She will be produced in court later.

In a shocking turn of events, a Guwahati-based journalist was also detained for alleged involvement in the incident. Identified as Abhijit Bose, he is the brother of the personal assistant of the prime accused of the torture of the minors, Sangeeta Dutta. He was detained and questioned under Section 120(B) of the IPC for helping his sister via telephone conversations.
