CITU Demands materialization of Domestic Workers Security Scheme

GUWAHATI: With their demand to materialize the Assam Domestic Workers Social Security Scheme-2018, CITU staged massive protest at Guwahati Club here in the city, on Friday.

CITU claimed that even after the scheme got passed in the Legislative Assembly almost a year ago, the Bill remains to be materialized. As the Scheme seems to carry no meaning in comforting the domestic workers, they appealed to the Chief Minister to materialize the Scheme as soon as possible. The domestic workers also appealed for the Chief Minister’s intervention to give recognition to their service from humanistic point of view.

Besides materializing the Assam Domestic Workers Social Security Scheme-2018, other demands of the domestic workers includes- formulating a law so as to ensure the social security of domestic workers at state level, to set Rs 3000 as monthly pension including scholarship for their children, inclusion of residence in the Scheme, assessing minimum of Rs 20,000 in case of maternity and Rs 3 lakh for medical treatment in case of critical diseases and increase of minimum wage to Rs 50 per hour.
