CLP recommends disciplinary action against MLA Sherman Ali

GUWAHATI: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) had issued a show cause notice to Sherman Ali Ahmed on October 1, 2021 in relation to the controversial comments he had made against the martyrs of the Assam Agitation. He had been given three days' time to reply to the notice.

Meanwhile, the Assam Congress Legislature Party (CLP) has unanimously recommended APCC "to take disciplinary action against MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed for repeatedly violating party discipline". The APCC has dismissed Mondiya Block Congress Committee general secretary (administration), Rafiqul Islam for "supporting" Baghbor MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed. Islam had allegedly called for a local bandh in protest against Sherman Ali's arrest without seeking permission from the party leadership.
