GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders of Assam were present at the party's state headquarters at Hengerabari here on Wednesday to listen to a virtual address made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 'Atmanirbhar Arthavyavastha' (self-reliant economy).

The Prime Minister's address, which dwelt on the Union Budget 2022-2023, was meant for BJP workers across the country.

After the programme, Chief Minister Sarma said that the Prime Minster's speech had given them deeper insights into the new Budget.

The Chief Minister said, "We will take lessons from the Union Budget and synchronize the Assam Budget with its provisions to give a new impetus to our State's economy."

Those who attended the event at Hengerabari included State party president Bhabesh Kalita.

Finance Minister Ajanta Neog attended a similar programme organized by the State BJP Mahila Marcha at the Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra here. According to party sources, around 7,000 party workers listened to the Prime Minister's address in 40 BJP organizational districts of the State.
