Congress & LGBI airport employees oppose privatization move

GUWAHATI: The Congress and the Airport Authority Employees' Union (AAEU) registered their protest at LGBI (Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport here on Monday against the move to privatize airports in the country.

Taking part at the protest APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) president Ripun Bora came down heavily on the BJP and said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ruling the nation by selling her resources. This airport is important from the point of view that it is within 100 km from the international border. This airport is sensitive from the security point of view, if privatized."

Chhaygaon MLA Kebiuddin Ahmed also raised the demand cancellation of the move to privatize the airport. Both airport employees' union and the APCC sent memoranda to the Prime Minister and the Union Minister of Civil Aviation through AAI's regional Executive Director, north-eastern region to cancel the privation move.
