Consumers' Legal Protection Forum (CLPF), Assam observes National Consumer Day

GUWAHATI: Consumers' Legal Protection Forum (CLPF), Assam today observed National Consumer Day at Chakradeo Deshbhakta Tarunram Phukan ME School, Guwahati, in association with the Deepor Beel Suraksha Mancha and Seuj Assam.

Apart from an awareness meeting, the Forum organized a free legal aid camp for the victim consumers on the occasion. Attending the programme, Advocate Ajoy Hazarika, Secretary, of Consumers' Legal Protection Forum, Assam elaborately described the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act. Advocate Hazarika said, "This Act gives us more power to protect our rights as a consumer. Most of us are not aware of our rights. After shopping, even we never go through the cash memo a single time. Without the cash memo, we cannot claim compensation. A victim consumer can knock on the door of Consumer Court if he has the case memo in his hand for justice," a press release said.
