GUWAHATI: The 72nd edition of the Guwahati Bihu Sanmilani was organized in the historic Latasil playground like the previous years. This year’s event was organized from April 14 to April 17.

The Bihu Rani and Bihu Konwari competitions were held on the first day of the celebration on April 14, while the Bihu Samragi competition was held on the last day - April 17.

Pratiksha Rani Borgohain was named as Bihu Samragi, while Banani Gogoi was named as Bihu Rani and Ananya Phukan bagged the Bihu Konwari title of the Guwahati Bihu Sanmilani 2023.

While the winner of the Bihu Samragi, Pratiksha Rani Borgohain hails from the capital city of Guwahati, Bihu Rani Banani Gogoi hails from Moran and Bihu Konwari of the 72nd Guwahati Bihu Sanmilani belongs to Lakhimpur. According to the organizers, the competition saw the participation of a total of seven contestants from across the State.

Dulumoni Bora won the title of ‘Shrestha Dhuliya’ and Debajit Tamuli won the title of ‘Shrestha Pepa Badok’ in this edition of the Guwahati Bihu Sanmilani. The Guwahati Bihu Sanmilani or simply Latasil Bihu Sanmilani is the oldest open celebration of the festival in Assam. Starting in the year 1952, the 72nd edition was hosted this year in the same venue.
