GUWAHATI: Women from various sections of the society submitted a memorandum to the President of India through the District Magistrate at the district headquarters across the country to declare the saree as the national garment for women.

The dispute with Anita Choudhary, vice-president of the All India National Graduate Association, Noida Metropolitan, for reaching 'Khel Gaon Delhi Ansal Plaza' restaurant wearing a sari is turning into a never ending debate. The organization with guidance from Advocate Anupama Barua submitted a memorandum to the President of India at the DC office, Kamrup (Metro) on Wednesday demanding that the saree be declared the national garment for women across the country and the aforementioned restaurant's license be canceled.

They also referred to the sari as the eternal identity of Akhand Bharat.

Advocate Anupama Barua said that the hotel administration should apologize in writing for the indecency committed with the Metropolitan vice president of the 'All India National Graduate Association, Noida' Anita Chaudhary. And if the hotel management fails to apologise, the license of the hotel should be canceled, they demanded, stated a press release.

Advocate Anupama Barua was accompanied by advocates Gitima Bora, Smiley Rajkumari, Jayanta Nath, Samiran Sarma, TV actor Chayanika Kashyap, Social Activists Binita Dutta Chowdhury and Podumi Barman, while she submitted the memorandum to ACS Sarmistha Borah, ADC Kamrup Metro.
