Delayed results hit Gauhati University students

GUWAHATI: Controversies seem have become part and parcel of the Gauhati University, with the latest one revolving round a delay in announcement of arrear results of the post-graduate batch of 2016-17.

It is learnt that these students have been facing severe problems as a result of this delay.

As per University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines, the results for the arrear examinations were to be announced before December 31, but this has not been done by the university.

One of the hapless students said, "We have visited the university in the hope of receiving some help from the Controller of Examinations, but that hope too has failed."

He also added, "They let us know that the copies (answer scripts) have not been checked yet, hence the results are not yet published."

Many students are facing hurdles in the path of seeking employment due to this issue. Many of them could not apply for the post of sub-inspector of Assam Police (Unarmed Branch) which was held on January 9.
