GUWAHATI: Sanspareils Greenlands, commonly known by its initials SG, is currently one of the most popular sports equipment brands related to cricket in India and they opened their first outlet in Northeast India in Guwahati on Sunday.

Devajit Lon Saikia, the newly appointed Joint Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India and Diganta Kalita, the Member of the Legislative Assembly from the Kamalpur Assembly Constituency of Assam were present as guests in the inaugural event.

Speaking on the occasion, the Joint Secretary of BCCI said that the outlet will help the crickets of not only Assam but entire Northeast India. He mentioned how players from the region had to visit Delhi and Gurgaon just to find their perfect bat or other sports equipment, and that now they can get the same in Guwahati. MLA Diganta Kalita also expressed his happiness about the range of products available in the store.

The Guwahati outlet, located near the Ulubari region of the city, is the 6th of its brand outlets across the country. Sanspareils Greenlands is a 92-year-old sports brand which started in undivided India before its partition in 1947. Post-partition, the family moved their affairs to modern day India and concentrated their efforts on cricket. Over the nine decades and three generations, they have become one of the forerunners in the niche market. They are also the main sponsors of several active and retired players of the Indian Men's Cricket Team.

The outlet owner Chandrakant Verma mentioned that the SG outlet now has the finest cricket gear as well as other necessary sports equipment. Enthusiasts can find their favourite equipment as well as a wide range of prices to suit their budget. He also hoped that this outlet can serve the budding cricketers of the entire region.
