GUWAHATI: A documentary entitled 'The Greatest Legendary Scholar from Assam Pandit Hemchandra Goswami' will be screened in Guwahati on Sunday. The project is an initiative by the grandson of the exponent of Assamese language and literature and premiered in Washington DC earlier this year.
Hemchandra Goswami was an exponent of the Assamese language who played a pioneering role in the development of literature in the later part of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. His grandson, Dr Naba Goswami, has taken the initiative on behalf of the Pandit Hemchandra Goswami Foundation to create a documentary on the exponent and shed light on several unknown facts about his life and work. The documentary titled 'The Greatest Legendary Scholar from Assam Pandit Hemchandra Goswami' has been directed by Tuna Gautom. The research and scripting of the project has been done by Sruti Jain and Tuna Gautom.
The documentary premiered in the Hoff Theatre at the University of Maryland in Washington DC on June 25. Following this it was successfully screened in Leicester in the United Kingdom. The Indian premier of the documentary is scheduled for Sunday, October 29 a the Vivekananda Kendra in Guwahati from 5 PM onwards.
