Dokmoka Lynching Case: Reexamination Of Witness Today

Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI: With the Gauhati High Court refusing to intervene in the Nagaon session court’s order, the recall and reexamination of one of the witnesses in the Dokmoka lynching case will be as scheduled on June 12, 2019.

The witness No. 17 of the Dokmoka lynching case, Nomal Basumatary, did not mention before the court the accused who he had mentioned in his ‘164 statement’. This has made the prosecution to petition before the session court praying for recall and reexamination of Basumatary. And in its order, the session court fixed June 12, 2019 for the recall and reexamination of the witness.

However, four of the accused – Bhogyaram Khakhlari and three others –moved the Gauhati High Court with a ‘criminal petition’ challenging the session court’s order. The High Court heard the petition on Tuesday and refused to intervene in the order of the lower court.
