Itanagar: Domestic carrier Alliance Air on Wednesday started direct flight operations from Guwahati to Arunachal Pradesh's Ziro, an official said. An 18-seater Alliance Air flight started from Guwahati at 12.55 hours and landed at Ziro at 1400 hours with pilots' Captain Nishit Tare and Captain Shakthi Vineshawar and a cabin crew.
Lower Subansiri deputy commissioner Vivek HP, additional deputy commissioner Heemani Mena, and administrative officers Flight Lieutenant Anand R Nair were present to witness the maiden landing of the flight.
Interacting with the pilot, the DC said he has been receiving lots of queries regarding the flight from government officials and the general public. He said the general public has received the news of the start of direct flights from Guwahati to Ziro with great enthusiasm.
The flight service will not only do well, but in the future there might actually be a need for increasing the frequency of the flight, Vivek said. He congratulated the pilots for the successful landing of the first flight. The Alliance Air will operate two direct flights per week on Mondays and Wednesdays.
