 GUWAHATI: The Union Minister of Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER), G. Kishan Reddy, will virtually inaugurate 5G applications in the seven North East Region (NER) states (other than Arunachal Pradesh) and a 5G Experience Centre on Friday in Tech City, Bongora, Guwahati. This inauguration is in continuation of the vision set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Golden Jubilee of the North Eastern Council. The Prime Minister, during his address to NEC in its Golden Jubilee Celebrations held on December 18, 2022, emphasised the need to capitalise on ‘Ashtalakshmi’ and said that the government should work on the eight foundation pillars for the development of the entire NE Region. One of the major pillars emphasised was 5G connectivity for job creation, attaining other socio-economic developmental goals, and meeting the SDG 2030 targets in NER. This project is being executed by AMTRON in collaboration with various government agencies like the Ministry of DoNER, the Department of Telecommunications, the Telecom Sector Skill Council, the School of Planning & Architecture, New Delhi; Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi; the Design Innovation Centre, UIET, Panjab University, and ALIMCO, stated a press release.
