Drug peddler arrested in Guwahati city

GUWAHATI: As a part of the initiatives of the Assam government to curb the sale and usage of contraband substances, Guwahati police were able to arrest a female peddler from the Zoo Road locality of Guwahati.

The woman identified as Anjana Begum confessed that she was involved in selling ganja over the last three months. She added that she used to work as a street vendor and resorted to dealing in ganja to run her family. The accused also named Bipul Boro as her supplier, and a good amount of the contraband material was recovered from her possession. The police have initiated an inquiry into the matter.
