GUWAHATI: The protests against the relocation of the dumping ground from Boragaon to Chandrapur completed one month on Monday.

The locals of Chandrapur have undertaken a week-long protest programme and observed a 'black day' on Monday. During the day, the protesters hoisted black flags at different areas including, Chandrapur, Bonda, Panikhaiti, and West Mayong, to oppose the government's move.

Local AASU (All Assam Students' Union) leaders also took part in the protest.

The protesters underlined that they will continue the protests until the government rolls back its decision.

"Despite protesting for over a month, the government has not yet taken any discussion. They have also not held any talks with the protesters. The government doesn't understand the language of democratic protest. But we hope that the government will take steps in favour of the people for development," stated a protester.

It is to be noted that the protests are being staged under the banner of Dumping Ground Birodhi Mancha.
