ECI conducts review meeting with State regulatory agencies

GUWAHATI: A Detailed Review Meeting was held in presence of Special Central Observers of ECI with various regulatory agencies at Assam Administrative Staff College, Khanapara today to review the performance of the regulatory agencies for the purpose of conducting a free-and-fair Assembly election. The meeting was attended by the Special Central Observers- Sudarsanam Srinivasan, IAS (Retd), Special General Observer; Ashok Kumar, IPS (retd), Special Police Observer and Neena Nigam, Ex IRS (IT), Special Expenditure Observer.

The meeting was coordinated by Addl CEO, Vinod Seshan, IAS. The Election Commission of India was represented by Dharmendra Sharma, IAS, Director General and Pankaj Srivastava IRS, Director Expenditure via video conferencing.

A detailed discussion over functioning of various regulatory agencies regarding search, seizure and maintenance of Law and Order and expenditure monitoring was done.

Regulatory agencies namely Excise, Police, DRI, NCB, SLBC (SBI), Income Tax, RPF, CISF, CGST, SSB, BSF presented their up-to-date performance report with regards to search and seizure.
