GUWAHATI: The Transport Department of the Assam Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Power to set up a network of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the city during an event organized in the office of the transport department in Khanapara on Saturday in the presence of the departmental minister, Parimal Suklabaidya.

Transport Commissioner Dr. Robin Kumar signed the understanding for his department, while head of business development for Tata Power, Virendra Goyal, signed for his organisation. Under the pilot project, 10 EV charging stations will be set up across the city to encourage the use of such vehicles. Later on, such stations will be set up on the national highway as well as in other cities and towns in the state. An AI-based application named Path Suraksha Sahajogi Application was also released during the event. This app is expected to spread awareness about road safety as well as reduce the number of casualties due to traffic-related incidents.
