Electricity Amendment Bill 2020; Power workers & engineers to stage protest on June 1

GUWAHATI: The Co-ordination Committee of Electricity Employees, Engineers and Pensioners (CCOEEEP) held a meeting through video conferencing on Sunday. Around 100 members of all the constituents of the co-ordination committee participated in the meeting across the State.
The meeting vehemently criticized the Government of India's move to place the Draft Electricity Amendment Bill 2020 during the nationwide lockdown when the whole world is struggling against the menace of COVID pandemic. The body stated that they will carry out a protest in Assam as a part of the Nationwide Protest Day against the bill on June 1.
The National Stalwarts, Prasanta Nandi Chowdhury, Convener National Co-ordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) and General Secretary, Electricity Employees Federation of India, Kolkata, Er Shailendra Dubey, Chairman, All India Power Engineers Federation, Lucknow and Er Abhimunya Dhankar, Secretarey General, All India Federation of Power Diploma Engineers, Haryana also took part in the programme.
Er Shailendra Dubey stated that Power policy of the Central Government is not only anti-people but also the intension of the Government is very harmful as it is planed during the lockdown.
The National Protest Day will be observed on June 1 by maintaining social distancing norms in all work places, establishments. The organization will submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister, Central Power Minister, Chief Minister of Assam, Chairman of APDCL, AEGCL, and APGCL.
