Guwahati: In a bid to strengthen Assam's cultural fabric and foster ethnic unity, the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra Society (SSKS) has commenced the second phase of the Assam Ethnic Cultural Harmony & Exchange Mission - a unique residential workshop celebrating the traditions of four indigenous communities.

The 10-day workshop, running from July 9 to 19, brings together 120 young artistes and 18 resource persons representing the Zeme Naga, Hrangkhol, Dolu, and Tai Khamyang communities. Participants will receive intensive training in traditional art forms such as Borgeet, Khurtal, and Sattriya, while also engaging in boudhik (intellectual) sessions aimed at deepening cultural understanding and mutual respect.

On the inaugural evening, an intellectual discussion was held, attended by eminent writer Dr. Pradyumna Goswami, marking a thoughtful start to the cross-cultural journey.

Romen Haloi, Junior Assistant at SSKS, also announced the upcoming edition of Mou-Mel - a monthly children's workshop designed to nurture creativity and expression among young minds. "Mou-Mel will be held on July 29 and is a day-long event packed with storytelling, drawing, and interactive activities that support holistic development," he said.
