Gaon burahs should be designated as government employees

GUWAHATI: Sadou Asom Gaon Pradhan Sangstha staged a protest at Chachal on Friday, the first day of the Assembly budget session. More than 1500 Gaon Burahs took part in the protest.

They protested in support of their demands, which stated that all gaon burahs should be designated as government employees. The gaon burahs above 65 years of age or those who have retired should be given Rs 10 lakh of remuneration, besides a pension. Regarding this, an expert committee was set up, but there are no such solutions yet. The Trinamool Congress' President, Ripun Bora, said that they totally supported and stood for the said demands, which are valid. At least they should be provided the remuneration that was promised since 2018-19.
