Gauhati High Court issues notice over arrear dues of GMC pensioners

GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court has issued a notice to the State Government after 583 pensioners of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) approached it seeking a directive for payment of arrear pension.

The court has fixed October 26 nest for the next hearing.

On behalf of the petitioners, their counsel said that the petitioners are retired employees of the GMC. They were in service on or after January 1, 1996, and before February 1, 2005. The counsel submitted that the petitioners were entitled to be paid their arrear pension in terms of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation Employees (Pension) Regulations, 2015.
