Golap Borbora Memorial Lecture Delivered At Gauhati University

GUWAHATI: The 2019 CSWC-Golap Borbora Memorial Lecture was delivered by Dr. Anupama Roy on the topic Citizen/Outsider: Law, Citizenship and Belonging. The lecture was presided over by Dr.Nanigopal Mahanta, Registrar, Gauhati University. As part of her lecture, Dr. Roy touched upon the different dimensions of the Citizenship issue in Assam as it has unfolded over the years. She pointed out the way in which the issue of citizenship in Assam has a transnational character with regard to Southeast Asia and also brought out the solutions and challenges posed by factors like the National Register of Citizens and the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019. The lecture was organized in collaboration with the Centre for South East Asian Studies, Gauhati University. The lecture was preceded by a ceremony to present the CSWC-Golap Borbora Scholarship Award. The 2019 edition of the award was presented to Sanjana Das of B. Borooah College by Hiranya Kr. Bhattacharya.
