Gorkha bodies oppose Citizenship Amendment Act in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: All major Gorkha civil society organizations of Assam – the Assam Gorkha Sammelan and the Assam state unit of National Federation of Gorkhas in India, the Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangha and Asaam state unit of Bharatiya Gorkha Mahila Parisangha (BhaGoMaP), opposed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in letter and spirit on Saturday. The organizations have demanded Government of India to exempt Assam from the ambit of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, a press release said.
