Gossain Bihu reverberates in Assam; the stage is set for Tator Bihu today

GUWAHATI: After the Goru Bihu and Manu Bihu, entire Assam is agog with Gossain Bihu today, and the stage is set for the Tator Bihu (handlooms) tomorrow, and so also in Guwahati.

The seven different events of the Rongali Bihus are being observed with traditional fervour, defying the inclement weather and the cultural onslaught during the digital age. People continue to throng stages to witness Bihu in the state until late in the night.

In Guwahati, the first Bihu on the stage (mancha Bihu) at Latasil Playground – Guwahati Bihu Sanmilan – entered the 74th year this year. The Bihutali at Latasil remains crowded until late in the night. The Pub Guwahati Bihu Sanmilani at Chandmari, Gitanagar Bihu Sanmilan at Gitanagar, Ganeshguri Bihu Sanmilani, Noonmati Bihu Sanmilani, Khanapara Rongali Bihu Sanmilani, and Bihu sanmilanis at Pandu, Hatigaon, Bhetapara, etc., have also turned into crowd pullers these days.

Bihu dance, Bihu husori, Bihu geets, diverse competitions, Moukonwari, Bihu Konwari, Dhulia, etc., are the major attractions of Bihu on the stage. Popular singers and local artistes continue to storm the stage.
