GUWAHATI: The state BJP said that the BJP-led State Government never neglected the Ahoms. Addressing the media today, Thowra MLA Sushanta Borgohain said that the president State government never neglected the Ahom community but honoured the community through adequate representation. "The BJP respects each community and ethnic group. The BJP-led government is working relentlessly for the welfare of each community of the state."
State BJP spokesperson Lakhya Konwar said, "All Tai Ahom Students' Union (ATASU)'s allegation that State BJP Mahila Morcha's president Angurlata Deka had made derogatory statements against the Ahoms is not true. The State BJP staged a protest on the party office premises on July 29 against Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Choudhury's objectionable statement against President Droupadi Murmu. However, some unscrupulous people doctored one of the slogans with anti-Ahom phrases and shouted it aloud. The video went viral on social media. We filed an FIR at Dispur Police Station in this connection, seeking immediate arrest of the miscreants. Even after all these, a section of ATASU leaders are making comments against Angurlata Deka is unfortunate."
