GUWAHATI: The NSS (National Service Scheme) Cell of Gauhati University celebrated the 'World Health Day' by organizing a webinar at the GU campus on April 7.

Inaugurating the webinar, Director of Students' Welfare & Programme Coordinator, GU NSS Cell, Dr Ranjan Kr Kakati enlightened the aim of celebration of World Health Day which is celebrated every year on April 7 to recognize the widespread contributions of medical faculty and to create awareness of a specific health theme to highlight a priority area of concern for the World Health Organization.

Focussing on this year's theme of World Health Day — 'Building a fairer, Healthier world', Dr Kakati also said that people must consciously make oneself physically fit and create awareness among others to remain fit.

Attending as a resource person Assistant Professor, Government Ayurvedic College, Guwahati, Dr Jyotirmoy Sarma highlighted the necessary precautions to be maintained for COVID-19 protocols and elaborated on the ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Sarma also advised to the participants to lead a healthy life by consuming healthy meals having more fruits and vegetables, drink sufficient amount of water, do regular exercises, wash hands before eating, get sound sleep, and practise yoga every day. He further said that one must avoid smoking, tobacco, alcohol, caffeine, and sugary drinks among others.

Scientific Officer, GUIST & NSS, PO, GU campus, Dr. Rituparna Bora moderated the webinar and offered the vote of thanks. The NSS volunteers from GU campus and affiliated colleges participated in the webinar, stated a release.
