GUWAHATI: Gauhati University NSS Cell organized successfully its orientation programme for NSS Programme Officers from September 8 to 10, 2022 at the university campus.

During the inaugural ceremony, Nabaneet Mahanta, APS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, West Guwahati Police District attended the programme as the chief guest and spoke on different aspects of drug abuse prevention and cybercrimes. Mahanta highlighted the role of NSS volunteers in the prevention and control of drug abuse in society.

Dipak Kumar, Regional Director, NSS, NER, Guwahati attended the programme as a guest of honour. He focused on different aspects of NSS, including the role of NSS Programme officers to be carried out in their respective institutions.

Dr Ranjan Kr. Kakati, Director, Students' Welfare, GU & Programme Coordinator, GU NSS Cell coordinated the programme and appealed to all the NSS Programme Officers to carry out community and social service with full sprite and dedication.

Dr Hemanta Rabha, Training & Capacity Building Specialist, ARIAS Society (under Government of Assam), Raina Bhattacharjee, Clinical Physiologist, Sanjeev Sinha, Asstt. Commandant, NDRF, Pranab Kr. Sarmah, Retired Faculty IIE Guwahati attended as Resource Persons. NSS Programme Officers from different colleges under GU NSS Cell attended the programme. Certificates were distributed to all the participants, a press release said.
