Guwahati: 71-Year-Old Borbari Resident Goes Missing, Last Seen Near NE Cancer Hospital

Guwahati: A 71-year-old man from Borbari, Guwahati, has been reported missing under concerning circumstances. Lalit Kumar Singha, a retired resident known to suffer from depression and memory-related ailments, has not been seen since July 17, prompting growing concern from his family and the local community.

According to relatives, Mr. Singha left his residence at approximately 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 17. Despite repeated attempts to locate him, there has been no contact or confirmed sighting since that day. The last known sighting of Mr. Singha was reported around 8:00 PM near the North East Cancer Hospital in Jorabat, roughly nine hours after he left home.

At the time of his disappearance, Mr. Singha was wearing a white half-sleeve shirt and white half-pants. Family members shared that he had been undergoing medical treatment and was actively dealing with depression and memory loss, which may have impaired his ability to navigate or recall familiar locations.

A formal missing person complaint was lodged with the Dispur Police Station soon after he failed to return. Police have since launched a search operation in collaboration with family members and local volunteers. The authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity and expanding their search radius to include surrounding areas.

“The past few days have been extremely difficult for us. We are very worried about his safety, especially considering his medical condition,” said a family spokesperson. “We urge anyone who might have seen him or has any information, no matter how small, to come forward and help.”

The Guwahati Police have also issued a public notice encouraging citizens to remain vigilant and report any potential sightings or information that could assist in the ongoing investigation. Citizens are encouraged to immediately contact the nearest police station or reach out directly to the Singha family.

As the search intensifies, the community continues to hope for Mr. Singha’s safe return. His family remains at the forefront of the efforts, appealing to the public through both traditional and social media platforms.
