GUWAHATI: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Asom Unnati Sabha (AUS), and the Asom Sena (AS) will take out an awareness rally to make Assam free from drugs on March 18 in every district headquarters in the state. The students’ union is of the firm view that Assam needs to be free from drugs for a secure future for the next generations.
In a statement to the media, the three organisations said that the rampant sales and use of drugs in the state is a matter of serious concern. The new generation is heading for destruction, leading to rising crimes, they feel. They said that the state government will have to carry out stringent drives to make the state free from drugs, give exemplary punishment to the suppliers of drugs, and plug the sources and transit routes of drugs to Assam.
