
GUWAHATI: Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport secured the 10th position in domestic passenger traffic for December 2024, handling a total of 575,358 passengers. This marks a significant milestone, reflecting the airport's growing importance in India’s aviation sector and its vital role in connecting the Northeast region.
The airport's growing number of passengers shows that its air travel facilities are expanding and it is becoming an important travel hub. As more people travel, Guwahati Airport helps boost tourism and business in Northeast India.
Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport had the most passengers in the country, with 51,119,968 travellers. Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport followed with 35,53,399 passengers, and Bengaluru’s Kempegowda Airport had 31,60,515 passengers. Other airports in the top ten included those in Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Pune, and Goa.
Earlier, last year, on November 14, Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport witnessed the highest-ever single-day passengers and Air Traffic Movements (ATM) in 2024, with 20,413 passengers and 146 flight movements.
The airport, managed by Adani Airport Holdings Limited, a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Ltd, the flagship incubator of the globally diversified Adani Portfolio processed over 1.74 lakh passengers over the last ten days, starting from November 6. LGBI Airport successfully managed 1,202 flights, ensuring smooth operations for passengers.
