PALASBARI: The newly-built Terminal 2 (T2) of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Borjhar, brought global acclaim to Assam and the Northeast, winning the International Architectural Award 2025 in the Transport category.

Guwahati International Airport Ltd announced that the award celebrated the terminal as a tribute to the region’s natural beauty and cultural depth. Its design takes cues from the enduring strength of bamboo and the delicate charm of foxtail orchids, a combination that embodies both resilience and elegance.

Showcasing Assam’s biodiversity, heritage, and commitment to sustainability, the terminal sets a new global standard for environmentally conscious transport infrastructure. Far beyond serving as a travel hub, it is conceived as a cultural gateway, giving passengers their first immersive experience of Northeast India as soon as they arrive.

The International Architectural Award is regarded as one of the most prestigious recognitions in global design, honouring achievements in innovation, aesthetics, and sustainable development.
