Guwahati: The Gauhati High Court Bar Association has strongly opposed the government’s decision to relocate the Gauhati High Court to Rangmahal in North Guwahati. At a general meeting held on Wednesday, the association unanimously condemned the move, citing concerns over accessibility, infrastructure inadequacies, and a lack of stakeholder consultation.
Association president Kamal Nayan Choudhury, while talking to the media, said that despite earlier assurances from the Chief Minister of Assam and the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court that no relocation would occur without proper consultation and the completion of the ongoing bridge construction, the government has still proceeded with land acquisition for the proposed judicial township at Rangmahal.
