Guwahati: Bike Taxi Driver Nabbed For Molesting Woman Passenger

Guwahati: A motorbike taxi driver on Monday was apprehended for allegedly molesting a woman passenger in Guwahati.

According to media reports, the victim had booked a bike through Rapido to commute from the city's Jayanagar to Rehabari.

During commuting, the driver, identified as Dipen Gohain, allegedly tried to molest her, following which the woman resisted.

Later, the driver hit the woman with his helmet following which the woman was injured.

Meanwhile, a team of Dispur police nabbed the accused person from the Guwahati club and initiated legal proceedings against him.

Notably, there have been a couple of incidents that have awakened the people, especially women, who used such services for commuting.

In March 2022, the crime branch cell of the Faridabad police arrested a taxi driver on a charge of attempting to rape a 20-year-old girl.

The police said the incident took place on December 16, when the victim was alone and was waiting at the Surajkund Crossing to go somewhere.
