According to an official communication addressed to the National President of the BJP, the committee reviewed 13 applications for nominations and, after detailed discussions, decided to forward all the names for consideration.

The names recommended by the BJP Assam State Election Committee are Queen Oja, former MP; Dr. Rajdeep Roy, former MP; Mission Ranjan Das, Rajya Sabha MP; Rajen Gohain, former Union Minister; Dr. Sunita Changkakati; Dr. Pradip Thakuria; Dr. Sanjib Goswami; Dr. Dayananda Borgohain; Dr. Vijay Kumar Gupta; Mridula Barkakati; Bhaskar Dahal; Kanad Purakayastha; and Biswarup Bhattacharjee.

The BJP’s list reflects a diverse mix of senior leaders, former MPs, and experienced organizational members, with representation from various regions and communities within the state.

The two Rajya Sabha seats will fall vacant on June 14 with the expiry of the terms of Mission Ranjan Das of the BJP and Birendra Prasad Baishya of the AGP.

Earlier, in a joint meeting held at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan, it was decided that, in line with the spirit of the alliance, the AGP will contest the seat it previously held, and the BJP will contest the seat it had earlier represented.
