Guwahati: BJP in Assam strengthened as opposition leaders join the party

GUWAHATI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam has received a significant boost with several prominent leaders from opposition parties joining its ranks. At a ceremony held at the Assam Pradesh BJP Office in Basistha, leaders and workers from various parties, including Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), threw their support behind the BJP.

Notable figures who joined the BJP include Pranjal Kalita, general secretary of the Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti; Masuma Begum, General Secretary of AAP’s women’s wing and Councillor of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation; Kalpana Das, AGP Councillor from Ward No.10; and Anjali Brahma, General Secretary of the Scheduled Tribes Cell of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee.

Welcoming the new members, State BJP president Dilip Saikia emphasized that every dedicated worker is valued in the party and will have opportunities to contribute. He highlighted the party’s growth, attributing it to the sacrifices of its workers and the love of the common people. Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah reiterated the BJP’s core principle and said, “Nation first, party second, and third is self,” urging the new members to work according to this ideology.
