GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and State BJP president Dilip Saikia released the BJP’s manifesto (Sankalp Patra) for the panchayat election – 2025, at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan on Saturday.
Addressing the launch event, CM Sarma said, “We have governed over the past few years by challenging established thoughts, ideologies, and philosophies. Those entrenched notions that once acted as barriers to holistic development have been consistently challenged by our government’s work over the last four years. There was once a time when Assam’s chief ministers had to almost beg before Delhi, but today, Assam has reached a stage where we are contributing towards the nation’s development.”
At the unveiling ceremony, BJP state president Dilip Saikia said that BJP prepares its manifesto for every election only after taking suggestions from the public, and this time too, the ‘Sankalp Patra’ has been prepared after receiving feedback from people across all sections.
Saikia further said that more than 3,500 individuals sent their suggestions via email, and the document was prepared accordingly.
State President, in his speech, also thanked the workers and the public for the record number of uncontested candidate victories already achieved in the preliminary stage of the Panchayat elections. He also highlighted the tireless sacrifices made by party workers under the guiding principle of “Service is Organization.”
Stating that no election for the BJP is just a quarterfinal or semifinal, Dilip Saikia said that every election from Panchayat to Parliament is a “final” for the BJP, and the Panchayat election holds equal importance. He also lauded the developmental activities led by the government under Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The ‘Sankalp Patra’ has been prepared, encompassing several unique aspects while trying to reflect BJP’s core ideology.
With the vision of Mahatma Gandhi’s “ Gramoday,” “Acharya Vinoba Bhave’s Sarvoday,” “ Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s Antyoday,” and the ideas of “Rashtraday” championed by Atal Bihari Vajpayee and PM Narendra Modi, this time’s Panchayat Election ‘Sankalp Patra’ has been crafted.
Through real decentralization of power, the ‘Sankalp Patra’ declares the commitment to the all-round development of the last citizen of society.
Announcing 15 major pledges (Sankalps), the document outlines a vision for comprehensive development of youth, students, women, farmers, tea garden workers, and weaker sections of society.
It also expresses the intention to create an effective marketplace in rural areas by establishing a balanced system of production and marketing.
At today’s event, two songs prepared for the Panchayat elections and a documentary highlighting the remarkable development works accomplished by the BJP-led alliance government over the past nine years were also released.
Several renowned individuals who have demonstrated self-reliance and have been honoured with the Assam Gaurav award by the state government were felicitated at the event in the presence of the Chief Minister and the BJP state president.
