Guwahati: The state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has welcomed the decision taken by the state cabinet to implement Mission Basundhara 3.0 for granting land rights to indigenous people as well as to religious institutions like Namghars, government offices, schools, colleges, and other public institutions. In a statement issued from the State BJP headquarters, the BJP’s chief spokesperson Kishor Upadhyay stated that the government’s decision to raise the upper age limit for promotion of Anganwadi helpers to 50 years has fulfilled a long-pending demand of Anganwadi workers, thus ensuring social justice to the women community.
Regarding industrial development, the statement highlighted the cabinet’s approval of investment proposals worth 850 crore, including the clearance of 400 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed during Advantage Assam 2.0. Specific investment proposals approved include 480 crore from Valley Strong Cements Ltd., 650 crore from Star Cement, 130 crore from Maxin Infrastructure and Real Extract Pvt. Ltd., and 583 crore from Varun Beverages Ltd., marking the beginning of a new era in Assam’s industrial landscape.
The statement further stated that the cabinet has approved the reorganization of development blocks in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), based on proposals submitted by the BTR administration. As a result, the number of development blocks in BTR will increase from 22 to 23, with a new development block office to be established at Gobardhana in Baksa district, which is expected to boost local development significantly.
