Guwahati: Burglars Use Sedative Spray To Rob House In Maligaon, Rs. 7.5 Lakh Looted

GUWAHATI: A well-planned burglary took place at Rest Camp near the post office in Guwahati's Maligaon area, where miscreants targeted the residence of one Mintu Dey. The thieves allegedly used a sedative spray to render the family unconscious before executing the theft.

The burglars ran away with Rs. 50,000 in cash and gold ornaments worth approximately Rs. 7 lakh. The incident came to light after the family regained consciousness and discovered the valuables missing. An FIR was lodged at the Jalukbari Police Station, following which police officials reached the spot and began an investigation.

The incident has raised concerns over security in the locality, with locals urging authorities to strengthen vigilance and adopt preventive measures to curb such crimes.

Meanwhile, on March 4, Rs. 10 lakh was snatched from members of a women Self-Help Group (SHG). The incident created a sensation in Golaghat.

As per reports, the women SHG, namely Ashwini Self Help Group of No. 2 Kabaru Gaon, had received a government loan of Rs. 10 lakh. The SHG members withdrew the amount from the SBI Pulibor branch in Golaghat town. As soon as they came out of the bank, two men riding a bike snatched the money bag from behind and fled. The case was filed at Golaghat Police Station, and the police launched an investigation.
