Guwahati: CID, Assam arrests one more for fake appointment letters

Guwahati: CID, Assam, has arrested Sankar Kumar Bhomick, in connection with the circulation of fake appointment letters in the Water Resources Department of the Government of Assam.

According to officials, Bhomick allegedly handed over forged appointment letters to various candidates in exchange for money. Investigations revealed that Ranjan Pegu had transferred substantial sums to Bhomick’s account for securing jobs in the department.

The case was registered following a complaint by Chief Engineer Bhaskar Jyoti Sarmah, who reported that a forged letter with his fake signature was circulated to various divisions. The fraudulent document was linked to job re-appointments in connection with court case W.P.(C) No. 3900/2017 and other analogous cases.

Earlier, CID had arrested five other accused in the case — Abu Hanif Choudhury, Jakaria Ahmed, Rina Brahma, Ranjan Pegu, and Shunti Das. Meanwhile, arrested Bhomick was a candidate for the upcoming BTC election from BPF party.
