GUWAHATI: Sleuths of the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell (CM’s SVC) have initiated an investigation against Joint Secretary at the Silchar Mini Secretariat, Pankaj Kumar Deka, ACS, into the allegations he had during his postings in the Darrang district.

Deka had been in the Darrang district as an ADC from August 18, 2020, to January 6, 2022, and as the District Development Commissioner from April 7, 2023, to July 31, 2024. The investigation is on land-related allegations against him during his postings in the Darrang district. According to sources, the allegations against Deka came to the fore from one of the land brokers arrested during the 2024 crackdown on land mafias in the state. According to the allegations, Deka registered lands meant for temples in the names of other persons.

The sleuths of the CM’s Special Vigilance Cell raided Deka’s residence at Janakpur in the Kahilipara area in Guwahati on Wednesday.
