Guwahati: The Director of Elementary Education (DEE), Assam, has issued a directive to all District Elementary Education Officers (DEEO) for the preparation of district-wise gradation lists of assistant teachers for their promotion to the post of headmasters in Upper Primary (UP) schools.

As per the notification, the gradation list must be compiled in accordance with the amendment of the ‘Siksha Khetra’ scheme for the amalgamation and merger of different schools.

The provisional gradation list must include details such as the order of seniority showing date of regular appointment, educational qualifications, year of training completion (D.El.Ed, B.Ed.), age at the time of appointment, and expected date of retirement. Separate lists should be prepared for ME/MV/Govt./Provincialized MV Schools and Government Senior Basic Schools.

The provisional list must be displayed for 15 days to allow teachers to raise any objections. Only after addressing these objections, the final list should be prepared and submitted to the Directorate of Elementary Education (DEE) by May 22. The promotion consideration ratio has been set at 1:2.

A detailed timeline for submission has been provided to the concerned authorities, along with the necessary formats for data compilation. The timeline for finalizing the gradation list is as follows: The DEEO concerned will issue a notice for the submission of applications for promotion to the post of Headmaster of UP Schools on March 29.

The assistant teachers will have to submit their applications (in the prescribed format) to the in-charge headmasters of the concerned school between April 3 and April 5.

The in-charge headmaster will then submit the applications along with the required teacher particulars to the DEEO concerned in the prescribed format from April 7 to April 10. The DEEO concerned will place the particulars of the teachers before the DLSC meeting between April 22 and April 24.
