Guwahati: Dispur Police have arrested a man for allegedly duping multiple people by falsely promising them permanent jobs in exchange for money.
The accused, identified as Sahidul Islam (39) from Gorchuk, had reportedly deceived several individuals associated with the Shikshamitra in the Goalpara district. He took money from them, claiming he could secure them permanent jobs.
The matter came to light after Kiran Deka Kalita, a registrar of the Directorate of Secondary Education, lodged a complaint at Dispur Police Station. Following that, set up a trap by arranging a meeting with Islam at the office premises under the pretext of discussing the job offer. As soon as he arrived, he was apprehended by officials and handed over to police.
Islam, a resident of Kalyanpur in Goalpara district, was apprehended and taken to Dispur Police Station. Legal proceedings have been initiated against him. During interrogation, Islam confessed to his fraudulent activities. He is currently in police custody, and further investigations are underway.
