Guwahati: Dispur Police Foil Human Trafficking Bid, Rescue Five Victims; Four Arrested

Dispur: The Dispur Police, under the EGPD (East Guwahati Police District), successfully thwarted a human trafficking attempt and arrested four individuals, including a woman, in a swift and coordinated operation.

The arrested traffickers have been identified as Hemanta Borah (32) of Chatia, Jainur Ali (38) of Dodora, Aminul Islam (36) of Lakhipur, and one unnamed woman. Acting on credible intelligence inputs, the police intercepted the accused before they could carry out their plan.

As a result of the timely intervention, five victims were safely rescued. Due to the sensitive nature of the case, the identities of the rescued individuals have not been disclosed. Authorities have confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated under relevant sections dealing with human trafficking and abduction.

A senior police official informed that further investigation is underway to uncover possible links to a wider trafficking network.

The police have reiterated their commitment to combating human trafficking and ensuring the safety of vulnerable individuals.
