Guwahati: In a bid to enhance water service delivery and promote responsive governance, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), in collaboration with the Guwahati Jal Board (GJB), conducted a comprehensive door-to-door household survey across the city.
The initiative aimed to assess the status of household water connections, identify gaps in supply, and gather direct feedback from residents regarding water-related issues. Senior officials, including GMC Commissioner Dr. Lakshmi Priya, IAS, Joint Commissioner Mrinal Borah, and Municipal Secretary Abinash Paul, ACS, actively participated in the outreach effort.
During the survey, residents shared their concerns and suggestions, enabling officials to better understand local challenges and service requirements. The move reflects GMC’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and data-driven policy implementation.
“This initiative is an important step toward improving transparency, service efficiency, and citizen satisfaction,” said a GMC official source. “Direct interaction with residents allows us to tailor our efforts and ensure that basic services like water supply reach every household effectively.” The civic body plans to continue such outreach activities in the coming weeks to build a more connected and responsive governance framework for the city.
