Guwahati: Drug peddlers, gambler arrested in the city

GUWAHATI: Guwahati police arrested several miscreants with drugs and gambling from various areas of the city. A team from Noonmati Police Station apprehended a drug peddler — Babul Choudhury, alias Jilapi (21) — with 10 vials of heroin, weighing 13.20 gm, at Noonmati Forest Gate.Acting on an intelligence report, a team from Pan Bazar Police Station raided a hideout at Railway Gate No. 2 and arrested a person named Munna Ali, alias Munna Rahman (22). A total of 8 vials of heroin, weighing 10.58 gm, were recovered and seized from him. A team from Dispur Police Station nabbed Ganesh Vishwakarma of Dhemaji red-handed while operating teer gambling at Japorigog. The police seized four notebooks, nine number slips, Rs 10,150 in cash, a mobile phone and a UPI scanner from his possession.
