Guwahati: Drugs seized, one apprehended in city

Guwahati: The East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) teams carried out two successful operations under Sonapur and Dispur Police Stations. In the first operation, an EGPD team from Sonapur police station raided the Balligate area and apprehended Raju Deka (55). During the search, 575 grams of ganja was recovered, concealed inside his scooty bearing registration number AS01EM4864. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused. In a separate operation, the EGPD team from Dispur police station apprehended Jay Kumar (28) of Kachari Basti near the Auto Stand in Christian Basti. The team seized 500 grams of ganja along with Rs 15,710 in cash from his possession. Legal action has also been initiated in this case.
