GUWAHATI: The Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees Engineers & Pensions staged a one-hour protest on Tuesday. The protest took place from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. At the central programme held in front of Bijulee Bhawan, around 100 employees gathered, raising slogans against the Chandigarh privatization.
More than 200 electricity employees participated in the protest, standing in solidarity with the struggling employees of Chandigarh against the central government’s privatization move. The protest demonstrations were held at various locations, including the State Head Quarter Bijulee Bhawan, Mangaldai, Silchar, and North Lakhimpur.
The protest came to an end when the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) submitted a memorandum to the President of India.
