Guwahati: Environmental Watch and Management Institute organized Earth Day-2025 on April 22 and April 23 at PM SHRI Kaklabari Higher Secondary School, Jalah Block, BTR, Baksa district (Aspirational District), Assam, with the theme “OUR POWER, OUR PLANET–Renewable Energy”. Sponsored by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, the event witnessed participation from around 300 attendees, including professors, teachers, and students from institutions across India.

An online quiz on oceans, climate, renewable energy, and geosciences began on April 19, followed by an Energy Saving Oath through Google Forms. The plantation programme was inaugurated by Jagadish Sarma, Principal of PM SHRI Kaklabari Higher Secondary School, with saplings distributed by Alfikkar Ahmed, Forest Beat Officer, Daodhara. A human chain and rally promoting renewable energy slogans and an exhibition of student models were also held.

Over 90 students participated in a drawing competition conducted by Sadhana Art School. A solar panel system was installed at PM SHRI Kaklabari Higher Secondary School to ensure a sustainable energy supply. Lectures on power generation and renewable energy were delivered by Dr. Dilip Kumar Deka, Dr. Chandana Sarma, and Dr. Bhupendra Talukdar. The event concluded with prize distribution and a cultural programme where students showcased the traditional Bihu dance and classical performances. A total of 12 prizes were awarded for drawing, model, and dance competitions, stated a press release.
