Guwahati: In a move to expand its digital footprint and showcase its academic and cultural excellence, Gauhati University has launched a new podcast series titled Chai, Chatters & Chapters. The initiative aims to celebrate the University’s scholarly contributions, vibrant campus life, and research achievements.

The premiere episode, featuring Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta, Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University, is scheduled to go live on June 18, at 7 pm on the University’s official Facebook and YouTube channels.

Speaking on the launch, Prof. Mahanta said, “This podcast is a unique opportunity to share the rich legacy of Gauhati University with a global audience. It will encourage meaningful conversations about our academic pursuits, cultural traditions, and the vibrant spirit of our students and faculty. I am delighted to join the first episode and invite our community to engage with these stories that define who we are.”

The podcast series is envisioned as a dynamic platform to take Gauhati University’s ethos beyond the classroom. It will highlight groundbreaking research across disciplines—from nuclear physics to sociology—and shed light on the lived experiences of students, scholars, and alumni.

Chai, Chatters & Chapters will also showcase student-led initiatives under sports and cultural clubs, NCC, and NSS units, underlining the University’s role in holistic development and societal engagement. The series will feature voices of alumni, faculty, researchers, policymakers, and students, fostering a dialogue that connects academia with real-world challenges.

With a focus on increasing the University’s visibility across Northeast India, the rest of the country, and Southeast Asia, the podcast is also expected to promote international collaborations, including joint research, dual-degree programs, and faculty exchanges.

Future episodes will delve into themes such as sustainability, global challenges, and the preservation of cultural heritage, in line with Gauhati University’s mission to contribute meaningfully to both regional and global academic discourse.
